This Privacy Policy explains how Chatdrift ("Chatdrift," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, dashboard, embeddable widget, and related services (together, the "Service"). This policy applies to visitors to chatdrift.com, customers who operate a Chatdrift workspace, and end users who chat with a Chatdrift-powered widget on a customer’s website.
If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact us at support@chatdrift.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in a few different ways, depending on how you interact with Chatdrift.
Account information: name, email address, and workspace details you provide when you create a Chatdrift account or are invited to one.
Conversation data: messages, attachments, and metadata exchanged through the shared inbox, the embeddable widget, and AI agent conversations, including messages from your customers' end users.
Contact records: information your workspace stores about your own customers (such as name, email, or notes) as part of using Chatdrift's inbox and contact tools.
Content you create: help docs, custom instructions, form schemas, form submissions, and workflow configurations you build inside Chatdrift.
Usage and device data: log data, IP address, browser type, and general usage patterns collected automatically as you use the Service.
Cookies and session identifiers: used to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences, as described in Section 4.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to operate, secure, and improve Chatdrift.
To provide the Service — authenticating your account, rendering your dashboard, delivering chat conversations, and running your AI agents against the knowledge you've given them.
To process AI-generated responses — conversation content is sent to our AI processing subprocessor to generate agent replies and support workflows like article suggestions.
To maintain and secure the Service — monitoring for abuse, debugging issues, and keeping accounts and data safe.
To communicate with you — service notices, billing notices, and responses to support requests you send us.
To process payments — subscription and billing information is handled through our payment processor, described in Section 5.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your customers' conversation content to train AI models for other customers.
4. Cookies, Sessions & Similar Technologies
Chatdrift uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication and basic functionality — not for third-party advertising. When you sign in, we set a session cookie that keeps you authenticated as you move around your workspace; this cookie is required for the dashboard to function and is tied to our authentication layer. The embeddable widget may also use a local session identifier to keep a visitor's conversation connected to the right thread. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling required session cookies will prevent you from signing in or maintaining a widget conversation.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only with service providers who help us operate Chatdrift (our "subprocessors"), and only to the extent needed for them to perform that function. We do not sell personal information to third parties.
OpenAI — processes conversation content to generate AI agent responses and related AI features.
Cloudflare — provides AI-assisted search/retrieval over your knowledge base and stores certain files and documents you upload.
Stripe — processes subscription payments and billing information; Chatdrift does not store your full payment card details.
Pusher — delivers real-time updates (such as new messages appearing instantly) within the dashboard and widget.
Vercel — hosts the Chatdrift application and handles web infrastructure/delivery.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of Chatdrift and our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected customers where practical.
6. Data Retention
We retain account, conversation, and contact data for as long as your workspace is active, so your AI agent, inbox history, and help docs stay usable. If you close your account, we will delete or de-identify your data within a reasonable period afterward, except where we're required to keep certain records (such as billing history) for legal or accounting purposes.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure — to protect information handled by Chatdrift. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work continuously to protect your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. Workspace administrators can access and manage most account and contact data directly inside the Chatdrift dashboard. For anything you can't manage yourself, contact us at support@chatdrift.com and we'll help.
9. International Data Transfers
Chatdrift and the subprocessors we rely on may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it continues to receive an appropriate level of protection consistent with this policy.
10. Children's Privacy
Chatdrift is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@chatdrift.com and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our Service or legal obligations change. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of Chatdrift after a policy update means you accept the revised policy.
